Mental Illness Personified
The feast
It’s just another [excruciating] meal for Vienna – until an offer to conquer her greatest fear in ‘three simple steps’ arrives. Desperate for freedom from her fear of eating, Vienna takes the offer up – only to realize she bit off far more than she can chew…
As Vienna is taken through these three escalating steps to conquer her fear, she also discovers just how resilient she is, ultimately fighting anorexia back in the most defiant way possible: by reclaiming her autonomy in eating.
The Feast is ten minutes of terror that every meal represents for someone in the clutches of an eating disorder. It’s also ten minutes of turning this fear of eating on its head, celebrating the strength, struggle, and journey of every eating disorder survivor – past, present, and future.
Proudly screened and selected for awards at over 20 film festivals globally.
Advocacy in Action
Lights, Camera, and a Call to Action
Three artists. Three stories. One unshakable truth: disability is not a limitation, but a canvas for advocacy, innovation, and transformation.
This documentary shines a spotlight on the creative worlds of three disabled artists, exploring how their work challenges perceptions and drives movements for change. Through their eyes, we witness the power of art to break barriers, build understanding, and demand inclusion. As their stories unfold, so does a deeper conversation: what is ‘disability,’ and how can we reshape our society to embrace accessibility as a shared responsibility?
With its blend of intimate storytelling, striking visuals, and a bold call to action, Lights, Camera, and a Call to Action reimagines the role of art and activism in driving progress. It’s a celebration of resilience, a challenge to the status quo, and an invitation to join the movement toward a future where equity and creativity thrive hand-in-hand.
Brain Injury Reimagined
Becoming the Butterfly
There’s a lot that medical tests, imaging, and knowledge can offer us, but there are also things it can miss – in particular, the internal experience of illness, including its physical, psychological, and emotional effects. A purely biomedical approach can also miss the family, friends, and community surrounding a patient and supporting them through recovery.
Becoming the Butterfly is a creative non-fiction piece that was co-created through a series of workshops with brain injury survivors. Powerful and evocative metaphors used to describe their experiences emerged from the process, such as feeling ‘lost at sea,’ and the idea of ‘life before, life after,’ mimicking the [often terrifying] process of metamorphosis that occurs in nature.
The result is this film, which we hope will not only raise awareness about brain injury, but also serve as a proof-of-concept for the powerful role that art – such as film – can add to understanding illness experiences in new ways, alongside traditional medical approaches.
Proof-of-Concept Magic: A Medical Drama Like You've Never Seen It Before
All in, Baby
Medical school is about more than just lectures and anatomy class for Ocean Rutherford – a broke but brilliant student struggling through multiple jobs to cover her expenses. After a major bursary that would have solved her financial plight falls through, Ocean is forced to take on janitorial night shifts at her local hospital to keep herself afloat. Here, she meets the cool, collected, and very mysterious Jasper, who invites her to his underground poker club as an additional route for making money. Jasper quickly sees potential, and offers to fix her financial predicament by training her as a poker player – in exchange for a cut in the winnings. Ocean soon finds herself living a double life: medical student by day, poker star by night.
In her journey to the top, Ocean discovers poker goes beyond cards on a table. As she is transformed from a timid girl into a fierce, fearless young woman, Ocean learns more than any textbook could ever teach her: that when it comes to life, you have to go all in.
